Make These Changes Yourself To Try To Address A Skin Rash

When you identify an unexpected skin rash somewhere on your body, it's a good idea to schedule an appointment with your local dermatologist. As a skin-care expert, this health practitioner will be able to determine the exact nature of your rash and its probable cause, as well as give you some suggestions on how to treat it. You can also be proactive upon the discovery of the issue and see if you might be able to determine what could be causing or exacerbating it. When you conduct this research on your own, you can then report your findings to your dermatologist. Here are some changes that you can make:

Remove Jewelry

Some people develop skin rashes as a result of jewelry coming into contact with your skin. If you notice the rash on your inner or outer wrist, for example, you might notice that it clears up when you stop wearing your watch or a metal bracelet. Similarly, if the rash is anywhere on your body that has jewelry, especially if it's metal, rubbing against it, discontinue the use of the jewelry and see if the rash persists or goes away.

Avoid Common Allergens

Sometimes, the consumption of food to which you have an allergy can cause skin rashes. You might not know of any allergies that you have, but this doesn't mean that they don't exist. It can be useful to notice if your rashes emerge consistently after consuming certain types of food. If this is the case, you should eliminate this suspected problematic food from your diet and see if your skin clears up. If you aren't getting such signs, however, you can simply think about avoiding certain common food allergens, such as gluten, dairy, and soy, and then noting your findings.

Change Or Avoid Skin-Care Products

You may be getting a skin rash because a certain skin-care product that you're using isn't agreeing with you. Note the location of your rash and then assess whether this is an area that you treat with a product. For example, if the rash is on your neck, perhaps you use aftershave or perfume in this region. If you halt the use of this product, you'll be able to see whether the rash goes away. Similarly, a rash around your underarms can often be the result of deodorant. Try to avoid wearing deodorant but, if this isn't possible, visit a health store to buy a hypoallergenic deodorant, as it won't be as likely to cause rashes.
